polylactic acid which is derived from corn starch, a natural and renewable resource. Because PLA is made from organic material these cold drink cups are biodegradable and will fully decompose in a
commercial composting facility within 180 days. They are ASTM D6400-99 certified for “compostable plastic”. Though indistinguishable from standard plastic cups and as light and strong, these cold cups fully degrade into water, carbon dioxide and organic material when composted.
