Biodegradable Trays![]() Biodegradable trays are manufactured from a variety of materials including sugarcane fiber, bamboo, reed plasma, bulrush and even palm leaves. Sugarcane trays are produced from a material called bagasse. In short, bagasse is the fiber remaining after the extraction of juice from sugarcane. Bulrush is just one of many types of tall marsh plants with cylindrical seed heads more commonly known as cattails. Not only are these all annually renewable resources, but they can be turned into products normally made from paper or plastic such as trays, plates, food boxes and even paint pan liners. Further, being produced from organic plant material they are 100% biodegradable. Biodegradable trays come as single compartment, two, three, four, five, six and even ten compartment configurations. They also come with cup holders. Most biodegradable trays are microwavable, water and oil proof, of sturdy construction and are environmentally friendly. They can also tolerate heat up to 200 degrees. Biodegradable trays will compost in 45 to 60 days in a commercial composting facility. Considering all of the advantages of biodegradable trays and other products, it only makes sense to use these biodegradables whenever disposable dishware is in order.
